Short and sweet this time, it's late here. Today Elise was a bit out of it this evening. She's having problems with constipation again. She didn't go today and her belly was a bit bloated. I think she feels really uncomfortable a lot of the time. We took the kids to the mall to play because it was like 100 outside and too hot for a park. Elise threw two tantrums at the mall when we transitioned from things she was enjoying. Like I said, she had a rough evening. She fell fast asleep by 8.
Our service coordinator finally returned an e-mail. She has Elise's clinical file on her desk and will review it Monday and start the process to get her recommended for ABA. She asked us to send her a copy of the report from the psychiatrist also. I think that will help greatly in making the case for more funding for her. She said that an extra hour of OT / week was just approved this week and will take effect on 10/1. Slowly.....moving forward, but moving forward nonetheless.
I also spoke with UCLA today about what we've discovered with insurance. The administrator of the program there told me that Elise's current insurance option is quite a fight to get much coverage for this. We had discovered this already in our dealings. It's great for medical insurance, but sucks for mental health coverage. I asked about my new work's insurance and she told me that they have great coverage with them and she would highly recommend looking into switching Elise to that insurance. For that, the medical coverage is not as good, but right now it's the mental health we need most. Hopefully, we won't have anything catastrophic happen on the medical side in the next year. We'll have to play with the numbers this weekend and make a decision. Out of curiousity, I asked how much the program costs. $60K!!!! Not something we can afford on our own, that's for sure. Unfortunately, I don't think her pediatrician takes the insurance that my company has. We may have to go without her for a year :( Hopefully, we can find someone else good.
Nothing else to report. Tomorrow Elise has OT in the morning for 1 hour. Then, she is going for a blood draw at Children's Lab to test for Celiac. Then, her OT is doing a home visit in the afternoon for an hour. Busy day. Hopefully she'll poop so that she can actually enjoy her OT, which she generally loves.
