Today I worked from "home". Our offices were being moved. Since I was going to be without a computer while my work station was being moved, I decided I would be more productive at home. I had to take Elise to UCLA for her research study meeting. I brought hubby's work laptop and decided to work there. Well, the building is closed and I ended up having to work in the main lobby of the building. It was really difficult to focus. I didn't end up getting much done, so now I'll be working quite a bit to make up for today.
I observed Elise in the morning. She was very similar to how she is with me at home. I think this is what they term a great day for her, but for me it's her usual day. I guess it's progress that she's finally letting others see the real Elise. She's made great progress for them, but her overall progress is really not that tremendous since a lot of the things they are celebrating are things she's been doing with me for a long time already.
After I brought Elise home, I left right away to pick up A. As soon as he walked in the house, he and B were excited to decorate the Christmas tree. Elise was also interested in the tree. I think she's starting to get the idea of Christmas now. She's a real menance with the tree however. I think I have to ban all ornaments from the bottom of the tree (anything in Elise reach). Maybe someday I can put out decent decorations for the holidays again. It was fun to see how excited the kids were to decorate, but it was yet another huge hassle to do anything with them. I think there were at least 5 casualties that I can think of right now. 3 ornaments, 1 Christmas refrigerator magnet and one candlestick holder. Sigh...
Well, now I need to sit down and do some actual work. The 2 glasses of wine I had earlier to help deal with the Christmas decorating disaster will make doing work now interesting. Who knows, maybe my focus will improve. It doesn't seem like it could get much worse. Several times today I forgot what I was saying mid-sentence. What a run this has been lately.
